Lakeside Book Company acquires Marquis Book Printing. With this acquisition, Lakeside will enhance its service offering with access to the Canadian market, while improving lead time and overall service capabilities for small and large publishers alike.

Marquis acquires Georgetown Terminal Warehouses, one of the largest book distributors in Canada. This transaction will immediately benefit Canadian and international book publishers from new efficiencies and integration opportunities.

Acceleration of Horizon 2025 plan and $30M capital investment

In response to the North American book publishing industry’s supply chain challenges and increase in book sales, Marquis is accelerating its Horizon 2025 plan and its $30M capital investment, in order to increase printed book production capacity and improve manufacturing efficiency.

SUSTAINABILITY – MARQUIS RANKS 8TH IN NORTH AMERICA

The 2019 Canopy Blueline ranking saw Marquis jump from 14th place to 8th place. The Blueline Ranking is Canopy’s annual business consumer guide that ranks North America’s top printers according to 41 ancient and endangered forest conservation and transparently reported sustainability criteria.

Marquis Book Printing announces a partnership with U.S. firm EPAC and a $9M investment at its Montmagny plant.

WEBCOM

Marquis acquires Webcom. This transaction creates an annual production capacity of over 100 million books produced at three state-of-the-art printing plants.

The publication announces that Marquis ranked 259th on its top 500 list based on 5-year revenue growth.

Marquis invests $1M and creates a new ecological UV colour press.

Marquis announces a partnership with SoBook in Europe and develop its in-house print-on-demand platform: Marquis Express.

LEBONFON

Marquis acquires the former Quebecor World book printing plant: Lebonfon.

Marquis acquires two Transcontinental plants.

WEBCOM – INKJET

Webcom invests in the first HP T360 colour digital inkjet web press to be installed in Canada and the Bolero binder for perfect bound books.

tHE BIBLIOBUS

To clear the overstock in his shop and recover some of the capital invested in publishing during the war, Marquis sets up an ingenious distribution system, converting a caravan into a travelling bookstore. This “Bibliobus” sold its wares all over Quebec and New Brunswick.
