[October 6, 2026] – Montmagny, Québec — Marquis Book Printing, Canada’s leading book manufacturer, today announced an investment in advanced inkjet technology at its Montmagny facility. This investment of more than CAD $5.5 million strengthens Marquis’ Canadian production capabilities and reinforces its long-standing commitment to Canadian and Québec publishers.

The HP PageWide Advantage 2200 marks a significant technological step forward for Marquis. It delivers high-quality colour inkjet printing on coated and uncoated papers, including matte, satin, gloss, groundwood, and recycled stocks, and supports cover printing on stocks up to 15 pt. Integrated with a Flexbook Magnum book block system and a Harris & Bruno coater, the line converts paper rolls into finished book blocks through an efficient inline production workflow.

Book publishers will gain greater speed and flexibility and improved ability to respond to shifting demand. The technology also provides richer colour vibrancy and density, better scuff resistance, and low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

“Expanding our capabilities means expanding what’s possible for our customers,” said David Tessier, Vice President of Sales at Marquis and General Manager of Marquis Graphic Studio and Le Laurentien. “We’re excited to offer more solutions and greater flexibility to meet their evolving needs.”

The press supports print-on-demand runs of up to 2,500 copies and is well suited to trade books, educational publishing, and specialty publications requiring heavy ink coverage and vivid colour reproduction, such as graphic novels, comics, and manga.

The Montmagny press is the 100th HP PageWide Advantage 2200 installation worldwide, an important milestone for HP and a reflection of the platform’s proven reliability and performance.

“The installation of the HP PageWide Advantage 2200 in Montmagny reflects our shared commitment to innovation, quality, and helping publishers respond to rapidly changing market needs,” said Barbara McManus, VP and General Manager, HP PageWide.

“Marquis’ continued commitment to supporting Canadian publishers with world-class manufacturing solutions is backed by the resources of our parent company, Lakeside Book Company,” said Nicolas Huard, Vice President, Innovation and Technology. “For more than 35 years, I have worked closely with French- and English-language publishers across Canada, North America and Europe to bring their books to life. I am extremely proud of this new production line at our Montmagny facility, where the Marquis story began in 1937.”
